Job Mentor Program
The Job Mentor Program is a youth career-readiness training program that consists of a school-based program and paid summer internships.
School-based Program
JMP partners with 15 high schools in the Albuquerque Public Schools system to offer career-readiness training that includes career exploration, workforce skills, and paid job shadow experiences. Students receive .5 hours of elective credit per semester for attending the class and completing coursework, and participating in job shadow and community service opportunities. Each participating high school is designated a School-based Coordinator, who is responsible for class instruction and facilitating job shadow and community service placements.
JMP hires youth ages 14-18 for seven-week paid summer internships. Interns can work up to 25 hours per week and are paid minimum wage. Interns are placed at government and non-profit organizations where they learn about various aspects of public service.
