Early Head Start | 0 to 3 Years Old

Early Head Start programs are for infants and toddlers up to 3 years old and pregnant women.

Early Head Start programs provide intensive, comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income families. The free Early Head Start child and family program offers: High quality care and education; home-based and center-based services; parenting skills; home visitation; family self-sufficiency; comprehensive services including referrals; breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack.

  • Early Pre-K: 3-year-olds only, child must turn 3 on or before September 1 to be eligible
  • Pre-K:4-year-olds only, child must turn 4 on or before September 1 to be eligible
  • Preschool: 3 to 5-year-olds, mixed age classrooms

NM Pre-K is a state-funded program to provide free, voluntary, developmentally appropriate opportunities for children ages 3 to 5. The linguistically and culturally appropriate curriculum is play-based, guided by the NM Early Learning Guidelines, and focuses on school readiness, growth, and learning. The free or low-cost programs offer: high quality care and education; child-centered learning; developmentally appropriate curricula; early literacy; school readiness; full day programs; breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack.
